The Space Kitchen Journey

A tiny kitchen can produce an amazing meal if it has the right tools

People often long for a huge kitchen. I had one of those once. I loved it. I cooked meals for crowds. I invited people into the kitchen to cook with me. But you can’t have a big kitchen on a spaceship. And I don’t miss mine.

The key to creating a spaceship kitchen that can cook fantastic food quickly is design. Everything has to be in exactly the right place. When you nail that, a tiny kitchen is a study in the refinement of motion. You can pull together complex meals fast, with no help, because nothing requires you to reach or move across a large room.

I love my space kitchen. And, in these pages, I will show you how to create one. I will show you how to create gourmet meals in it, too. And the beauty of cooking in a small kitchen is that it all comes together so fast.

A beautiful meal in 20 minutes — most of that time spent sipping a cocktail on the couch — is a daily occurrence in my space kitchen.
